According to recent data, half of all aviation emissions have been emitted within the last two decades, despite improving fuel efficiency. In 2019, the aviation industry released a record-breaking one billion metric tons of carbon emissions, underscoring the pressing need for sustainable solutions to address the sector's environmental impact.
As the demand for air travel continues to increase, it is evident that a comprehensive approach is required, one that pursues both emissions reductions and the development of sustainable aviation technologies.
Since 1960, aviation has reduced its emissions 80%, but this is not nearly enough. Without effective action, aviation emissions will continue to contribute to the global climate crisis, posing a significant threat to the environment, economy, and society.
Our partnership with 4AIR is an exciting step towards promoting sustainability in private aviation. 4AIR is the world's first organization to establish a rating system that evaluates the level of commitment to sustainability within the private aviation industry. Their exceptional project portfolio includes sustainability initiatives that have produced measurable results across the globe. By collaborating with 4AIR, we are proud to offer our clients a more sustainable option for private jet travel and support the wider goal of creating a more eco-friendly future for aviation.
Fly private, carbon neutral
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability in aviation at The Aviation Factory, we are excited to announce that starting from April 2023, our clients will have the option to fly carbon neutral. For €25-75 per flight hour, depending on the type of aircraft you charter, we will purchase verified carbon offsets that offset 100% of the CO2 emissions associated with the flight. These offsets will support a range of 4AIR's sustainability initiatives around the world, including international forestry, wind, solar, cogeneration and clean water projects.
By choosing this option, our clients can take an important step towards reducing the carbon footprint of their air travel and contributing to a more sustainable future for aviation. We believe that promoting carbon neutral flying is an essential part of our responsibility as an aviation company, and we look forward to working with our clients to create a more sustainable future for air travel.

At The Aviation Factory, we are committed to promoting sustainability in all areas of aviation, including charter flights.
Carbon offsetting is available for all of our charter flights, allowing clients to offset 100% of the carbon emissions associated with their flight, for an additional fee of €75 per flight hour. We purchase verified carbon offsets from a reputable organizations such as 4AIR, to ensure that our clients' investments are supporting sustainability initiatives around the world.
In addition, we work closely with airlines to take other steps towards a more ecological flight, such as the use of sustainable aviation fuels when possible, and reducing plastic waste from in-flight catering.
We believe that sustainability is not only a responsibility but also an opportunity to create a better future for air travel and the planet.
Carbon emissions are the result of burning fossil fuels which release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This includes the burning of coal and jet fuel in aircrafts. These gases trap heat, much like a greenhouse, leading to the warming of the earth. Even a small rise in the average temperature can have a profound impact on the environment, society, and economy. Therefore, reducing carbon emissions is crucial to combatting climate change and preserving the planet for future generations.
What is Carbon Offsetting?
A carbon offset is a certified reduction or prevention of one metric ton of CO2 (mtCO2) emissions. To calculate a carbon offset, the total carbon footprint of a flight must be determined and then neutralized by utilizing verified credits that offset the equivalent amount of CO2 released. Each credit purchased contributes to a portfolio of sustainability projects and initiatives aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions.
What are some of the sustainability initiatives that The Aviation Factory supports through its carbon offset program?
Each credit purchased contributes to 4AIR's portfolio of sustainability projects and initiatives aimed at reducing global greenhouse gas emissions. These accredited projects are based across the world - with activities ranging from forestry programs to cookstoves to renewable energy.
Offsets projects often incorporate forestry and renewable energy, allowing us to address the largest source of global emissions. By supporting these initiatives, carbon offsets can help to balance out the environmental impact of air travel and promote a more sustainable future for aviation.
What are some sustainable aviation technologies that can reduce the carbon footprint of air travel?
Sustainable aviation technologies include electric or hybrid aircraft, sustainable aviation fuel, and improved air traffic control systems. These technologies have the potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of air travel and promote a more sustainable future for aviation.
Why €25-75/flight hour?
Our carbon offsetting price of €25-75 per flight hour is based on the average fuel burn of the aircraft and the cost of purchasing verified carbon offsets for your flight. Depending on the type and size of aircraft you charter (small turboprop vs. large private jet) this price may be closer to €25 or €75 per flight hour.
By offering carbon offsetting at a fair and transparent price, we hope to encourage our clients to take an active role in reducing their carbon footprint and contributing to a more sustainable future for aviation.
Is it automatically included in my quote and invoice?
No, carbon offsetting is an optional service that clients can choose to add to their booking. We believe in giving our clients the freedom to choose, and we are committed to offering a range of sustainability options to support a more eco-friendly future for aviation.
Are the purchased carbon credits verified?
A carbon offset is a tradeable, verified reduction or avoidance of one metric ton of CO2 emissions. 4AIR offset projects and credits are verified and validated with the most prominent verification standards.
